Traffik Jam 7th July 2012

During my first week of becoming the Support Worker for youth and children’s work within the Grimsby and Cleethorpes circuit I started working my way around the Circuit Meeting and working with a variety of different church groups from Tetney mid-week Sunday school to St Andrew’s youth drop in .

As part of the youth work within the Methodist Circuit I also support the One forum, which is comprised of representatives from churches across Grimsby and the YMCA that come together to plan youth events for Grimsby. As our first big youth event together we decided to stage an event around the theme of Human Traffiking, this came about due to Steve Chalke coming to Grimsby to talk about human trafficking.

Held in the Grimsby Minster the event will comprise of worship time interspersed with information for young people to reflect over regarding social responsibility, the young people will then have a chance to react to these thoughts by taking part in some workshops within the minster. These will be things such as petitions for the local MP’s (They have been invited to the event), fair trade chocolate lounge, Freedom wall and MC Generator’s Lord’s Prayer. The night will round of with 27 million live and worship time to end the evening.

The event will hopefully be the first of many events to come in co-operation with the One forum and the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Methodist circuit. Over 80 young people will join together on the 7th July to sing, worship and discuss social responsibility and act on this! Your prayers and thoughts during the planning and running of this event are greatly appreciated and of course any young people that want to join in are more than welcome.

The Facebook page for this event is up and running and you can follow the fun by searching #traffikjam on twitter.

Stop the traffik!
